I think the scaling of the cockpit is a bit off

Which would explain all the entries in the instruments.xml file like this

<overlay>
<animation n="100">
<type>scale</type>
<property>constants/zero</property>
<x-offset>1</x-offset>
<y-offset>1.75</y-offset>
<z-offset>2.1</z-offset>
</animation>
</overlay>
</model>

So is the main model scaling off as well then? (which I think was Stuarts point?)

Scale is correct. Stated length is 41.58mt. The model is 41.5. so it only 0.08mt out.

It is the entire flight deck that is out of scale

My guess is that the main instrument panel is about 2.0x the width and 2.3x the height it should be

I've been looking around for a good reference for the dimensions of the main panel but most of the stuff is so old it is not easy to track down and confirm. For example there is an jetphotos.net pic that show its age because it has an old-style Nokia mobile phone in it. I used to have one just like it so I know how old that makes it.

Wait! . . . .

So I made the 3 main central panels but they are still way off being usable. I think the flightdeck is just tooooo big

It's looks even nicer when in situ

with a texture for the main panel grey, reflective instrument glass and cockpit shadows this could look quite impressive.

Latest Mod kit available at:

github.com/John-Bray/Short-Belfast_mods

These are amended / new since the last upload:
Belfast-set.xml
for_Models/Belfast-C1.xml
for_Models/belfast.ac
for_Models/for_Interior/FlightDeck (the entire folder need adding)

I would be grateful if some people could test this out, particular the NAV1/NAV2 instrumentation that we will be using for the next FlightNight.

The start of this is:
--airport=LFBD --runway=11
--nav1=199:114.65
--nav2=019:113.75

After takeoff from runway 11 of Merignac (LFBD) we will climb at 1,000 fpm
and set a heading of due north until we get us onto the
019°M radial from VORDME Bordeaux Merignac (BMC) on 113.75 MHz (NAV2)
199°M radial to VORDME Cognac Chateaubernard (CNA) on 114.65 MHz (NAV1)
which will get us onto Airway B19 that we will then follow for about 50nm.

If you get the start up condition correct, you will see this

No VHF NDB beacons are being used for ADF, to keep things simple. Similar for DME, though the HSI will show distance to a NAV1-tuned DME. The ILS needles in the AI plus VOR locator bar + GSpointer in the HSI should work when you get within suitable range of the NAV1 transmitter.

Hi Warty,

HSI and RMI seem to work absolutely fine with NAV1.

Not sure on the intended operation with NAV2, the RMI points the course you set no problem but seems to have no interaction at all with the signal from NAV2?

Also just a point on the NAV 1 DME, if you tune away from the freq, or go out of range, it still seems to give you a count down/up for the distance? The Course indication disappears but Dist still remains active until you pick up a new NAV1 station.

Is the operation of the HSI correct as well? It seems to be working the Russian way where the ball moves but the indices don't.

Great work all round though, absolutely fantastic to see the Belfast getting some love.

You will need to explain this question to me in a different way B)

This is from the start to getting onto Airway B19 out of Merignac

Agreed, will be fixed on the next version.

Avionyx wrote: Is the operation of the HSI correct as well? It seems to be working the Russian way where the ball moves but the indices don't.

Do you mean the AI / Attitude Indicator / Artificial Horizon here ?? It is currently set to go the wrong way in roll. Just a side effect of russian to get things done :) It will be fixed in the next version. Meanwhile, just swapping out line 24 of Short-Belfast_mods/Models/Interior/FlightDeck/FlightDeck.xml to
<factor>-1</factor><axis><object-name>rotationRoll_panel2P</object-name></axis>
should sort it.

Almost ready to add the dials and animations to the centre console, with the new template/texture now

then I will get back the the pilot's panel

Thanks for pointing these things out.

Thanks Warty, will test it later.
Can I ask what font you use for the instruments? Been trying to find a decent one for a long time and always fall short of 'looking' right even when using the ones supposedly used by the manufacturers.

We've been here before. Can't give you a link to it as I no longer have access but you should be able to find it from this
