Did you say hi flegel to me in your video. You don't say something like that, it's a German swear word. I need to talk to your dad !
On the subject of photo textures, yes they look good from a distance, but not from close up. I can remember when I was interested in xplane that it is very cumbersome to integrate the ortho textures in different detail levels in xplane. And how long it should take for all of Spain or Europe to work in xplane.
And now it should work something similar in FG, I don't find a good solution. The textures only look good when a certain altitude is reached. When flying low, even with the highest level of detail of the textures of (19 I think) it doesn't look particularly good.
And what about the performance, yes FG is opensource but if nobody really understands the engine and how it works then it will be difficult. The clouds, for example, are scaled using an algorithm and somewhere there is a bottleneck from the performance, because there comes the point where the weather has to be updated so that the algorithm is restarted and the FPS are good again.
It doesn't help to repaint a car and give the old engine new spark plugs.
The old engine has to be taken out.
But I hope I am wrong and that it is not done at FG (spark plugs).
I have a similar result as you (EGOD), these are very old textures from a French FG site.
Easy way to copy and paste into the Textures / Terrain folder.
I asked Alex in the past to talk to you little Stuart about what you think. Since I know you are big bros and always talk to each other (not really). I'm still waiting for feedback today.
But no matter, I think you are all are too tense, you have to loosen up. And don't always be offended and annoyed because I don't show up with the right aircraft or because I don't finished a 3D modeling .
My god worse things happen than that.
I am a happy and funny person you can call me what you want (maybe Miss Piggy) .
I've generated scenery with SRTM1. But I wonder if there's
a way to go beyond that. It would probably at least mean
rewriting the tools that use the SRTM format to make the
scenery. Because I think it's a limitation of the format itself.
