I hope this will eventually become a useful reference for pilots installing FlightGear for the first time (or reinstalling after a cock-up!) and exploring its many features and possibilities. Being Open Source and a collaborative project, it can sometimes be a bit of a headache - but once you're used to its peculiarities, you'll find it's an extraordinarily powerful platform for building... well, anything you like, actually, but principally, aviation-related simulations.
While we start assembling a general guide to starting in FlightGear from scratch, please feel free to start new threads to ask questions, making your question or enquiry clear in the subject of the thread to help those who come after. Please restrict posts in this thread to discussion about the running of the Basic Training subformus itself.
Thanks, and good luck with FlightGear, the most versatile free simulator beneath the wide blue skies!
