Starting in the Air with engines running

Trying to practice approaches and every-time I start in the air the engines are never running and by time got started you are in the ground.
What I am doing wrong?checked to wiki and forum and it goes not say

~I think it would only work with an aircraft that already has no startup sequence and nativly spawns with engines running

It requires an overlay for starting in the air with all the properties set that would be - some aircraft have the setting in the launcher - not sure if fgrun supports the system it uses, but there may be a command line switch that can be used instead

The F-16 has the state setting for approach - you'll need to set the setting in location for distance & speed as well though

Looks like you have to allow extra height, distance and speed to give you time for the start up sequence, can be a lot with a four engine jet (C-17) and use of the pause button until got the engines spooled up.
