Hi all my first post on FGUK, new to FG, got back into FS recently first re-installing CFS3 and digging out my rudder pedals and fighter-stick.
Now gone a bit mad recently getting a 2nd stick with throttle, Thrustmaster MFD and replaced my yoke (previous one had gameport cable).
This week been trying to get TrackID working with FG, some success this afternoon but cannot get it going with my FG 2020.1 installation (FGcamera not visible in this installation).
Been messing with FS going back to FS98 days, use to do panels and gauges for the gliders and planes I had access too, but stopped when MS changed the programming method (use to be able manage with the C++ programming of gauges but that was 20 years ago).
Interested in gliders, fighters and learning to fly helicopters (once very keen on learning to fly autogyro's).
Watched the Saturday night live flight which looked great but been struggling with the Harrier GR1 & GR3 but just installed the GR9 and did bitter with that model.
Just download it and place the folder somewhere and then start
the FG launcher. From there go to Add-ons and add the folder to
"Add-on Module folders". After this it should just work when you
That sounds surprisingly too easy for FlightGear Timi.
Welcome to the nuthouse Oly. We are all varying degrees of nuts here rangine from slightly weird to totally and utterly out of the tree. Im sure you will fit right in.
Harriers, yes, Harriers. You need 3 hands to fly a harrier properly. You need to realise, first and foremost, that the pegasus engine has a tad of engine lag when spoling up or down. You need to thing 30 seconds ahead of what you are doing. The GR9a was the only harrier that could hover with any reasonable payload. The older variants had much much less power to weight to play with.
Helicopters, well If I managed to teach VooDoo to fly them, any one can do it.
I've only ever used one. The TrackHat Clip Head tracking kit. It's 3D
printed piece of plastic. I once dropped it on the floor and it went to
pieces. So I filled it with epoxy resin glue. It will never fall apart again.
But I can't repair it ever again either should a cord get cut etc.
The camera could use an IR filter which wouldn't pass visual light
through it. But I improvised and put a piece of black garbage bag in
front of the lens with a rubber band which does the same thing well
However I just had a look at this Delan Clip I've heard about. It's made
of metal and it uses the same camera with the filtering already taken
care of apparently.
I purchased a TrackIR5 then found there were alternatives, I picked this one from fleebay for about £60 UK seller very quick delivery.
Now got it running well on my 2018 install but for the life of me I cannot get any sign of fgcamera in the 2020 install.
Tried the development version fgcamera201706(1) and that locked everything up so went back to the original version.
Someone suggested installing it as a FGaddon not quite some where that would go.
For an addon, create a folder somewhere with an appropriate name. put the FG camera files in it.
In the QU launcher. Down the left, clight the "Addons" jigsaw icon .
In the middle of the page that opens, there is a bit that says " Add-on Module folder" and on that bit there is an "add" button. Click that and tell it the folder you put the FG camera stuff in.
