Raspberry Pi 4 and FlightGear

15 Nov 2020 17:33 #48827 by timi
So I bought a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B with 8 GB of RAM, flashed the card
with Ubuntu 20.10 and installed FlightGear 2020.1.3 right from the Ubuntu
repos.

I get around 15-25 fps with the default renderer which is pretty nice.
However the audio is slightly distorted and it is so from the digital output
of the HDMI port so it's not like any poor quality analog audio circuitry of
the Pi itself causing the issue either.

Has anybody else had that issue?

Ha! The fix is here:
steamcommunity.com/app/353380/discussion...1642042464753800526/

sudo nano /etc/pulse/default.pa
Find the line that has the following:
Load-module module-udev-detect

Modify it to:
load-module module-udev-detect tsched=0

Cool, I have a wireless Microsoft keyboard with a trackpad connected to it so it’s kind of like the Pi 400 as well. Anyway, that small fix helped with a lot of audio issues including playing YouTube videos.

Yeah they both are pretty close if it comes to performance.

I will look out for the audio quality and if I have the same problem, I know now how to fix it.

Thanks man!

I got a Pi 400 for my daughter - it's clocked up at 1.8GHz, looking forward to trying it out
