Grob G-115 Cockpit engine sound too low

30 Sep 2020 19:24 #48245 by oly2b
Trying out the Grob ready for next Saturday and once the engine is started I can't hear it when in flight.
Had a look at the sound.xml but there too many Volumes to know which one sets the engine volume level.
Staring and external sound good but I tell if the engine is still running.

Can someone help?

Interesting. Let me take a look and report back. It's been a while since I fired up the Grob so it's a good excuse.

Sounds good from outside and when starting the engine but you can't hear if it's still running if you adjust the engine settings etc

Hey,

I updated the sound model of the Grob on the Drive.

Maybe someone could move it to the current release?

I changed audio levels, positions, sound files.
You will get a nice interior sound model that fits better the real sounds. Opening/closing canopy leads to external sound bleeding in. Compressed air flow sound added to internal sound model when canopy is open.
External sounds of engine and rotor updaed as well for a better overall sound experience.

Thanks for the modifications, tried editing the sound.xml to no effect and in the end I found the sound options in FG had more effect (could then hear the engine).
It did not help, crashed and burned trying to catch up last night. I had problems with the Grob being glued to the apron and at the first attempt I could only get it to 50 knots by the end of the runway so taxied back and got off at the second attempt (parking brake was off).
