It looks smooth enough. Any FPS difference ?

With the default scenery I get around 25-30 fps with the Compositor
while I would get 40-50 without it. And the default scenery doesn't
seem to be quite compatible with the Compositor. That's why I used
my own which happened to be.

But I got around 15-20 fps with that. With some occasional drop to
10 fps range.

Similar performance hit with Rembrandt

I don't get too much of a performance hit on my system, but I am getting visual artefacts - anti-aliasing isn't working on vegetation for me which has a knock on effect for their shadows

The shadow effect seems nicer than Rembrandt, and the images I've seen of the lighting look as good as Rembrandt - not tested it yet as I'm not sure which (if any) aircraft have their lights ported over yet

I'm hoping the next Ubuntu upgrade (which brings a Mesa driver bump with it) will sort out some of the visual issues for me - I could run with development drivers but I like my system to be reasonable stable from day to day :)

I think X-Plane 11 has nothing on the shadows either. Great stuff!

Could someone give me a quick idea of how to run it myself? Is it now in a nightly build?

I don't think so but if you download the nightly build I can link my fgfs.exe to this thread.
Or the whole bin dir too if necessary.

I think either the next stable release or nightlies will soon include a compositor enabled binary (as well as normal binary)

Also I figured out what the problem with the default scenery is.
Due to some bug you need to disable the Overlay from the
Rendering Settings -> Shader Options.

With me, the issue vanishes if I do any one of the following:

disable overlay
drop landmass down from max
drop transition down from max

download.flightgear.org/builds/nightly/

And then overwrite the bin dir with this:

Thanks Timi! :)

@timi: what aircraft did you use? I'm interested in how to do the mirrors...
