FlightNight, Saturday 25th Jan 2020 - Normandy Narrative

19 Jan 2020 17:31 #44486 by Avionyx
Hi All,

This weeks FlightNight is going to be a tour of the beautiful Normandy coastline with some overflights of WWII battlefields while we are at it.

The starting point is going to be 8pm UK Time at EGJJ - Jersey, before we start in the West of Normandy, making our way towards our halfway point at Caen - LFRK, After the break, we will head for Paris, fly through their poor imitation of the Blackpool Tower and land at LFPG.

For the evening we'll be looking at WWII Era aircraft that can comfortably cruise at 200kts - 230 kts. From the UK hangar ONLY please unless you can link to it BEFORE 1200 UK time WEDNESDAY.

Look forward to seeing you there!

Alex

A 2000 album by the Canadian, female, heavy metal band "Kittie"? I had a huge thing for their bassist in my teenage years. Looking back I'm not sure how good the music was.

Was more referring to this

Actually it would be cool to have this particular one, followed it through while they performed the flight.

I just flew the first leg of this in a Grumman Avenger and shortly after I landed, flightgear crashed. I happened to be running gdb debugger (linux) at the time. The error was
Thread 1 "fgfs" received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.0x00007fffb6ee5eb3 in ?? () from /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/radeonsi_dri.so.
Not being the programmer type, I have no idea what it means, but I think it might have to do with opengl. Anyone have any ideas?

Ok, so graphics related. I was able to repeat the error a second time, but nothing since. I don't see anything in the log.

Is this a direct flight from Jersey to Caen in the avenger and it just crashes a few minutes after landing? Let me know any more detail and I'll try and replicate.

Sorry for the late notice....just remembered I built a P-39Q especially for folks who have a hard time with tail draggers. This is a tricycle and flys pretty well (ask Geed) so ya'll might try it.
